Serving Others a Thanksgiving Dinner

LOVING AS A SERVANT -
What has 13 turkeys, 150 cans of vegtables, 50 pounds of mashed potatoes and stuffing, 5 crockpots of gravy, lots of rolls, and 40 volunteers from Gloira Dei...?
Thanksgiving Day at Bayshore Community Fellowship!
Thanksgiving Day for many years has involved Gloria Dei serving a meal in an impoverished area of town. Rather than the ship channel area church we had been serving for many years, this year God led us to the needy in our own backyard. Working with our friends at Lighthouse Christian Ministries in Bacliff we were introduced to Pastor Jonathan at Bayshore Community Fellowship in San Leon. We didn’t know what to expect and prayed for a good turnout (and that we would have enough food!). Vince put the call out for turkeys and Gloria Dei responded. From 11 to 12:30 we served nonstop: adults dishing up food and the kids and teens delivering plates and drinks to our customers (being “waited on” was a real treat for them and something they did not expect!). As service slowed, many of the volunteers were able to visit with the folks, lending a listening ear, praying for them and just showing that someone cared. Thank you to everyone at Gloria Dei who made it possible for us to richly bless those who came to Bayshore for a meal.
