May Newsletter
Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe it is the last month of school before summer vacation. We have had a great year. This month we will be focusing on cleanliness, health living and nutritious foods. We will re-enforce the importance of proper hand-washing after we are done using any of the toys or equipment, playing outside, blowing our nose, coughing, going to the restroom, and when ever else we may need to -- which is ALL the time.

We will review healthy and necessary foods for our bodies to grow in strength and stature and which foods are bonus foods and need to eaten in moderation (i.e. junk foods, empty caloric foods and excessively sweet foods). Activities this month will include separating healthy foods from unhealthy foods. We will also use a vehicle to pretend we are hauling healthy foods in, just as the farmers going to market would.

We will have fun with activities that will require large motor and fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and balancing. We will challenge our brains as we put all of these skills together in the same activity. Other activities will include high energy, cardiovascular exercises, as we do an obstacle course that requires jump, running and even some summersaults!! The children will enjoy jumping like a frog, sizzling like a snake, stomping as an elephant would and swinging as monkeys vines.

I hope everyone enjoyed our fist year of offering Health and Physical Fitness. I sure did. We will evaluate our planned activities and curriculum from this year and look forward to a healthy summer and great new school year ahead of us.

In His Name,
Ms. Kathy Lebeau

Water Play Schedule - Monday, 12 May - Friday 16 May
Weather permitting; your child will have Water Play Day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, May 12-16.
Please send your children to school in their bathing suits and with sun block applied prior to arriving at school. Please have them wear sandals or water shoes (the sidewalks can get hot). They will need to bring a towel, a change of dry clothes (including dry shoes) and a plastic bag to put their wet suit and towel in after they change. It would be very helpful if everything was labeled with their name.
