Gloria Dei believes and teaches that baptism is a sacrament. It is not just plain water, but rather the water included in God’s command and combined with God’s Word. Matthew 28:19-20 says, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. The benefit of baptism is forgiveness of sins and the promise of salvation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16:16). Gloria Dei further believes that man has a sinful nature from birth (Ephesians 2:3), that Christ commanded all people to be baptized (Matthew 28:19), and that Christ specially invited children to come to Him (Luke 18:15-17). Therefore, we believe, teach and practice infant baptism.
If you desire baptism for yourself or for your child, please contact Mel Neely at 281.333.4535 or mneely@gdlc.org to schedule it. We perform baptisms during worship on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. We offer a baptism class every other month, and this class is required of all parents bringing their child to be baptized.
